Hey Everybody,
My name is Daniel Peaceman and I am your CHUSY Regional Social Action/Tikun Olam Vice President. This title may seem daunting but let me explain, as it is really quite simple. I help oversee and work with the chapters in CHUSY, and the region as a whole, with charity projects. Anything relating to Social Justice or Helping the Needy–I am your guy. For Tikun Olam–repairing the world–I help oversee the money that we raise in CHUSY and in USY. I bet that this year we can lot a lot of great things, together.
If you are a chapter SA/TO, then you are über cool, just make sure you still have one of the packets from LTI. If you don’t have one, PLEASE CONTACT ME so I can email one to you. There is important information about the new International SA/TO project called the Mega Mitzvah Challenge (MMC for short). The packet also contains important information regarding the allocations process. If anyone is unclear about how the allocations process works, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be more than happy to help you out–that is what I am here for. I want to be able to step back and watch CHUSY grow in the realm of SA/TO and for that to work we need to all work together. I think we can do it.
Here are my goals for the upcoming 2005-2006 year:
- To raise at least $40,000 for Tikun Olam
- In 2003-2004, we raised $31,582.60
- In 2004-2005, we raised $37,557.31
- To raise general awareness of world/societal issues
- Even though Tikun Olam is very important, advocating people is just as important.
- To complete lots of really cool SA/TO projects
- Gidwitz Shabbatonim
- Mitzvah Clowns
- other great programs…
- To encourage chapters to put more ACTION into their social action
- SA/TO isn’t just raising money…it’s going out and helping your community!
I’m so excited for this year, and I hope you are, too. If you have any questions, comments, haikus, prose, or concerns feel free to contact me, the SA/TO committee, or your fellow SA/TO VPs.
Good luck! And remember Lets Get SATOed!!!
B’ahava,
Daniel Peaceman
CHUSY SA/TO VP 2004-2005
